Greetings, across the seas. My name is Sam Dixon, a native American from the green mountains of Virginia, the blue-collar brawn of Baltimore, the editing desks of Washington, D.C., and for 27 years from abroad among the wonderful people of Asia. Now I’ve gone full circle and returned home to Virginia. Overseas, there were catastrophic earthquakes, military coups and near-biblical floods. All was worth it, as I found everlasting love in my wife and our son.
From Taiwan’s aborigine villages, mainland China’s whirring factories, the Philippines’ coral beaches, Thailand’s Buddhist temples, and the glittering skyscrapers of Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore, I have learned to appreciate cultural diversity. Let me share that with you through my site’s writings and photographs.
